Hospitality Leaders Gather in Cork for HOTREC General Assembly

Industry leaders from over 30 countries are in Cork this week for the HOTREC 92nd General Assembly, co-hosted by the Irish Hotels Federation and the Restaurants Association of Ireland, with discussions focused on strengthening SME competitiveness in tourism and hospitality ahead of Ireland’s 2026 EU Presidency. The event highlighted key challenges including rising energy and fuel costs, geopolitical uncertainty, and pressure on international travel demand, with contributions from Cork Chamber, Cork Chamber Visit Cork, Caroline Bocquel and Cynthia Ní Mhurchú, and moderation by IHF CEO, Paul Gallagher, reinforcing the need for coordinated European and national responses to support a sector that remains highly exposed yet vital to economic growth.
