What is the QEP?
Originally launched in 1996 by the Irish Hotels Federation to assist Hotel & Guesthouse owners to establish best practice in their human resources, the Quality Employer Programme (QEP) has been reimagined by industry, for industry, in response to a new era in People Management. The QEP supports hotels and guesthouses in the establishment of policies, procedures, and practices in six key areas which will not only improve people practices in an individual organisation but will assist to collectively improve the overall employer brand of the hotel & guesthouse sector. Awards in each category allow winning hotels & guesthouses to showcase their strong people practices and gain positive PR and a better overall employer brand.
Why would you apply for this award?
Hotels/Guesthouses who want to improve their Employer Brand and be recognised by both potential candidates and existing employees for exceptional people practices should apply for the QEP award. The achievement of QEP pillars will contribute towards improved recruitment, better employee retention and an improved overall perception of your property as an employer.
What are the definitions of Critical (reference the documents) and Desirable (reference the documents)?
Critical Criteria: These are criteria which the hotel/guesthouse must achieve to be awarded the relevant pillar as the QEP expert group deem them essential to the overall HR strategic direction of a business. Desirable Criteria: These are criteria which the hotel/guesthouse can choose to pursue and although not deemed essential, they will improve the overall employer brand of the business. They also act as a contributor towards the QEP overall awards.
